About this listen

The second book and prequel in the No. 1 global bestselling They Both Die at the End series. What if you could find out your death date from a single phone call? Death-Cast is calling . . . will you answer?

‘If They Both Die at the End broke your heart and put it back together again, be prepared for this novel to do the same. A tender, sad, hopeful and youthful story that deserves as much love as its predecessor.’ Culturefly
'[A] heart-pounding story [full] of emotion and suspense.' Kirkus
'An extraordinary book with a riveting plot.' Booklist

Two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast make their first fateful calls.

It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict death, or is it an elaborate hoax? Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die, given his serious heart condition. Valentino Prince has a long and promising future ahead of him and only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident.

Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection. But when the first End Day calls go out, their lives are changed for ever – one of them receives a call . . . the other doesn’t.

Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest.

Overall, you could sense the ending from the events which had happened through the story bit it was excellently written and narrated.

Predictable ending

I really enjoyed the multiple cast members and the added level of emotion they added to their readings.

Great story and even better than "they both die at the end" in my opinion. Trigger warning -small spoiler - Domestic Violence

Great story

This was a great read. It held up to the end, and had me bawling my eyes out. (Glad I was not a bus.) The chemistry between the characters is real and you can feel what they feel. Story moves on fluently, and although the use of names from the previous book seemed a bit unnecessary, it did not throw off the vibe too much. Definitely worth the read.

So touching

I love this audio book so much, the narrators made it easy to follow. The story itself is amazing and so sad. Love how Adam linked it back to the first book. ❤️❤️

Highly recommend

Was nice returning to this world again, to the beginning. Another heartwarming story and some familiar characters that brought a smile. This will never be an epic tale but a good comfort read on a chilly day, with fluffy socks & cocoa, waiting to have your heart broken after it's been swollen to 3 times it's size.

Great prequel

I've literally read/listened to every one of Adam Silvera's books and this is one of his standard affairs - Make you fall in love with the characters and break your heart at the exact same time. Thank you, Adam, for hurting me once again 😂

Another hit from Adam Silvera

i read they both die at the end, and it changed my life and it gave me a reason to keep going. then along with this one, broke me even more than the first one, but also made me realise how life moves on. the books are so well made, it’s all aligned with each other, past and future and present too. i 100% recommend this book to everyone, because it is so good, but of course read the first one, cuz it fills some blank spaces in this one. i cant wait for the third book from Adam!!

a love story.. but heartbreaking…
