About this listen

FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of H. P. Lovecraft's The Dunwhich Horror.

Lavina Whateley has birthed an abomination, and now it's got free. First one family and then another are wiped off the face of the Earth, and this is just the beginning of the plan. Dr. Armitage, the Librarian at Miskatonic University, is scared. He's pieced together the clues and has a dreadful inkling of what is abroad. This ageing doctor may be the world's only hope.

New England wizardry gets out of hand. Perfect. Thought I would never get used to the English narrator but kinda suited the story after a while. Enjoyed 👍

definitely worth a listen! my favourite audiobook of the Dunwich Horror is done by "Chilling Tales for Dark nights on YouTube but this is the best one I have found on Audible!

A good audiobook for this classic!

I’m not a devotee of horror on page or screen, but when I first read The Dunwich Horror in my early teens in the 1970’s, it scared the pants off me.
It retains it’s capacity to disturb to this day, especially the twist right at the end which I had already half-anticipated on first reading but confirmation of which was still unsettling.
It would surely make for an excellent film; certainly just about anything would be an improvement on the 1970 Sandra Dee effort!
For my part, I think that the narrator does an excellent job, regardless of the scant effort to produce individual characterisations. I’ve listened to it several times already and will doubtless do so again.

An absolute classic Lovecraft
