About this listen

Discover the addictive crime thriller from bestseller Wes Markin

A murdered child. A case from the past. A detective inspector with nothing to lose…

DI Paul Riddick is a man tormented by his own actions and determined to right the wrongs of his past any way he can. But when his instincts lead him to follow a child he believes to be in danger, Riddick gets in deeper than he ever imagined…especially when the child is found dead.

DCI Emma Gardner doesn’t believe Riddick has blood on his hands, but he’s off the case until she can clear his name. If she can clear his name. Because Riddick seems determined to chase ghosts that only get him into more trouble.

Riddick's certain he didn’t kill the kid in the cave. But he also remembers another case, twenty years ago, with shocking similarities…which means someone is trying to trap Riddick.

Can Riddick uncover the truth, or will this be the case that finally destroys him once and for all?

Praise for Wes Markin:

'Cracking start to an exciting new series. Twist and turns, thrills and kills. I loved it.' Bestselling author Ross Greenwood

'Markin stuns with his latest offering... Mind-bendingly dark and deep, you know it's not for the faint hearted from page one. Intricate plotting, devious twists and excellent characterisation take this tale to a whole new level. Any serious crime fan will love it!' Bestselling author Owen Mullen

So Good

Riddick and Gardner investigate the discovery of a young boy's body in a cave. unfortunately the scene is complicated by the fact that Riddick wakes up in the cave next to the body. The story is dark and the plot is complicated with several strands.Wes Markin continues to develop the characters of Riddick and Gardner making them feel totally realistic. Both characters, but especially Riddick, continue to be haunted by the past. I love that Mother Shipton's Cave features in the book. I have visited several times over the years and always find it fascinating, and a bit creepy. This is the third book in this series and could be read as a standalone, but I believe you should start at book one! You won't regret it!

Another brilliant listen in the Yorkshire Murder series from Wes Markin. Every book read in this series is like catching up with old friends. Wes's writing is spot on and is obviously well researched and his description of the beautiful Yorkshire town of Knaresborough and this time Mother Shiptons cave brings extra enjoyment to this blind man. Well written and gripping from start to finish I have no hesitation in recommending this 3rd book and look forward to the next in the series. Aubrey Parsons does a great job of the narration and brings all the characters to life.

This is the fifteenth Wes Markin book I have listened to and it is as addictive and enjoyable as the first. Fantastic characters brought to life by Aubrey Parsons, and a plot as fresh as the first DCI Yorke book. Can't wait for the next one.

Another superb book that leaves you wanting more.
