About this listen

Six months ago Harry Bosch left the LAPD before they could fire him and then hired maverick defense attorney Mickey Haller to sue the department for forcing him out. Although it wasn't the way he wanted to go, Harry has to admit that being out of the game has its benefits.

Until Mickey asks him to help on one of his cases, and suddenly Harry is back where he belongs, right in the centre of a particularly puzzling murder mystery.

The difference is this time Harry is working for the defense, aiming to prevent the accused, Leland Foster, from being convicted. And not only does the prosecution seem to have a cast-iron case, but having crossed over to 'the dark side', as his former colleagues would put it, Harry is in danger of betraying the very principles he's lived by his whole career.

Read by the star of Bosch, Titus Welliver.

Another well written book by Michael Connelly. I like the connection between Bosch and Haller and enjoyed the twists in the story, and how they all came together in the end.

Enjoyable

Harry Bosch on the other side of the legal divide working without a badge, & with his brother, the Lincoln Lawyer!!

A great read. Harry doing what Harry does best, even without the protection of the badge. Proving that methodology and persistence always pays off! At least in Novels!

One of the better novels, largely because of the lack of formal procedural & political restraint, so therefore no back chatting, insubordination or devious manoeuvres on Harry's part!

A really good tale. Well read by the 'new' Bosch, even though I prefer the 'old' Bosch!

Enjoy!

Bosch Without A Badge!

This had me gripped until about halfway when the killers' motives and the silly connections began to unravel. Process and psychology of Bosch excellent, although the (now obligatory in American detective fiction) two dimensional relationship with his daughter was superfluous snd boring. Great voice but not one of his best in terms of story

Half a good detective story

wasn't sure how this book would go, but it's one of the best, with Harry's internal turmoil making it very human.

Excellent, kept me on edge until the end

Absolutely brilliant, once Bosch starts to pull that thread, it was as deadly and exhilarating!
Highly recommend even for a first time Bosch reader/listener. actually might just recommend this for anyone starting on Bosch. less department hassles and draw out than the others.
In short, breathlessly loved it 😍

Had me sweating and not sleeping with anticipation

Excellent book. Gripping. Listening to Titus narrate is like chocolate on my taste buds.

Best so far

I enjoyed this, I have followed Bosch and Haller through most of the Michael Connelly novels and I like the way the characters have developed.

There is a different dynamic in their relationship now, and it took a little getting used to.

The story was still good, and I did enjoy it, it was read well by Titus Welliver. I think maybe this was setting the scene for a continuation of the Detective (ex) and the Lawyer.

Worth a read!

Maybe not quite up to Connelly standard

I loved every minute of this book, no matter what you always know Harry is a good bloke doing things for the right reasons. Unlike many heroes he is fallible, which makes him more realistic and the story more gripping.

You can't beat a Harry Bosch book.

One of the best books yet! Harry maybe retired from the LAPD, but gets upto his usual tricks fighting for true justice. Mr Connelly is not retiring either and it is so good to see he is not going through the motions this deep in the series. Excellent narration despite what some of the reviews have said. Keep it up and glad a lot of the background music has finally disappeared!

Loved it! could not stop listening!

Another great book from start to finish with hooks and twists and all brilliantly read. Can't wait for the next one.
