About this listen

Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back.

Dawn Schiff is strange.

At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m.

So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell―beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running―is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything…

It turns out Dawn wasn't just an awkward outsider―she was being targeted by someone close. And now Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim? But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff.

Enough to kill.

The Coworker is a tense, captivating thriller from New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden that explores the dark ways the past can echo through the present―with deadly consequences.

Just a bit odd, not very strong characters and not really a strong story. Just ok

I’ve read several of Frieda McFadden and have loved them…but this one I couldn’t warm to.

It’s not bad but it definitely shouldn’t be read following her other great books such as the housemaid series or The woman upstairs. Lots and lots and lots of turtle references!!!

Only ok…

I really enjoyed the performance, as a previous reviewer stated, the narrator got all the characters right. I listened to The Housemaid first from all her novels, none of her other books are as good. But entertaining enough.

Not too bad!

I had misgivings about this book as I found Dawn's emails annoying. However, after a couple of chapters I understood her character and it became quite funny. I very much enjoyed this story and the characters. The narration captures the characters very well, the only criticism is for those emails reads. overall would 100% recommend. If you like this you'll probably also like the housemaid and the maid!

Twisty mystery

As one of the huge fans of Freida, we know that when you think you can guess what’s going to happen next, then you are definitely wrong…(don’t fall into this Frieda’s trap…)

The Coworker is full of jaw-dropping twists. A fast-paced thriller without giving the readers a second to breathe. Typical Freida’s style which I enjoy enormously.

Two women with two secrets. Enough to put them in danger.

Natalie who’s beautiful and everyone’s friend. Her coworker Dawn who’s weird and without friend at the office. She obsessed with turtle…
Dawn had a routine. She arrived to the office at the same time everyday, 60 seconds plus or minus. One day Dawn wasn’t at her seat and Natalie received a phone call by Dawn…”Help Me”.

A body was found. That’s Dawn…? Natalie was innocent but all the evidence was pointing to her. She put herself into a more suspicious position by giving a pseudo alibi…

I read The Coworker in audiobook format. It’s narrated by Alyson Krawchuk. All the characters had different personalities which presented perfectly by Alyson. The nerdy weird Dawn, the innocent but nosy Natalie, the loaded married boss and the good boyfriend…the characters were all played very well.

The Coworker has been prepared for 20 years by Freida. I can’t wait to read her next book - The Teacher.
