For Edward, immortality has been very lonely lately. After several decades in hiding, he's surfaced to find scarcely any of his kind left. Most importantly, his beloved Beatrix would appear to have succumbed to the sands of time. Curious to learn what might have befallen her, he stalks the last two immortals, Arron and his daughter Jennifer, in hopes of learning her fate.

Things are about to get a lot less lonely for dear old Edward. He's stumbled into a battleground between light and darkness. While this particular war has been going on since before the biblical flood, Edward will have to sort out the puzzle quickly, or join his friends in the afterlife.

On that subject, Arron's daughter may have a few ideas of her own. It would seem Jennifer Faust is convinced that the gates of Hell have a revolving door, not a padlock.

I loved the new characters that were introduced in this book. It would be possible to read this as a stand alone but the first book is amazing so you would be best placed to start there. This is equally good. I’m not going to give any spoilers so I’m going to be deliberately vague about the characters. We start with an escape from danger that’s tense and action filled leading into a good old face off between the good guys and the bad guys - yes deliberately vague!! The characters are interteresting with a good deal of depth. You like the good guys although are they the bad guys? And you either dislike or hate the bad guys but then some of them have a bit more depth than that also. I really dislike the queen - which you should or at least I think you should. It also sort of disturbed me that the games she plays with people are so warped given who or maybe what she is. Which is also really fascinating in terms of why she is like that or how or why. Like I said really involved characters, a great story, plenty of things going on to keep you hooked!

I loved the ending. I like the closure we get in the book and the possibility for more and once again the good guys who are bad guys the bad guys who are the good guys. I like the challenges the book throws at me in terms of that understanding.

Great narration that portrays the characters nicely and gives a sense of pace to the book.
