It has been a rough last few months, and I wanted to find a way to be a better caregiver to my mom. I came across this awesome audiobook and have been very pleased with it. The book is well written and researched, and I enjoyed the narrator very much. I found the sections about taking care of myself to be very enlightening too.

My grandmother suffered with Dementia and it was a very tough time for all of us watching someone so close to you becoming a completely different person. Back then we had very little information available to us in order to make educated decisions that would have her quality of life. We just had to use our instincts and do the best we could.

I am so impressed with Shunda’s audiobook as she covers so many aspects. Many of which I never even really thought about. The chapter on communication mastery in Dementia care really helped me gain a greater understanding as well as advanced care strategies for later stages. It’s a truly thorough guide that will help, not only your loved one suffering with the disease, but family members and carers.

This helps 6ne feel seen. Most resources I’ve found are either too technical or emotionally draining, but this one strikes the perfect balance. I picked up practical ways to handle mood swings, confusion, and daily challenges without feeling overwhelmed. What surprised me most was how much it also helps stay emotionally grounded. The section on handling outbursts without making things worse was clear and realistic—not the usual vague advice. There’s also a practical piece on how to adjust routines without turning the day upside down, which can make a big difference. It’s direct but still thoughtful, especially when talking about the emotional toll caregiving takes. You can tell it’s built around what people really deal with, not just theory. Easy to follow, but nothing feels watered down or sugarcoated.
