About this listen

Welcome to The Comfort Food Café!

It’s been a tough year for Maxine Connolly – so tough she's almost given up on finding her happy ending. But then she discovers The Comfort Food Café, shining like the star on top of the Christmas tree and welcoming her in to its cozy, cake-filled embrace for hot chocolates dripping with whipped cream, melty grilled cheese toasties and the funniest bunch of regulars she soon calls friends.

Then there’s gorgeous local Gabriel Moran, who looks at Max like she’s a present he can’t wait to unwrap – and she can’t help but think that, maybe, he’s just what she wants for Christmas too…

Really good listen

Always a pleasure to listen to Debbie Johnson and the Comfort Food Cafe Crew. I want to be a part of their life too! Good catch up with everyone as well as the introduction of someone new. The personality of Max resonated with me. As usual Colleen Pendergast is a brilliant narrator.

Dreamy escapism

All 7 books are lovely, funny and completely relatable. We’ve all been in one of these situations and if only there was a “comfort food cafe” to turn to. Narrator has a calming lovely voice too. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the series so far and hopefully there’s more to come.

A lovely re-visit to the Comfort Food Cafe

I was a little nervous about going back to The Comfort Food Cafe in case it ruined the nostalgia I have over this series, however this book didn't disappoint. Predictable? Yes. Does it matter? Not at all. Feel-good and light hearted and so great to be back with old friends! Listen to the other books in the series first and you'll enjoy this one.

Really not for me

I love the narrator but the story is long winded and hard to get in to.

unexpectedly graphic

I was shocked to discover that the author killed off Frank.
A lot of the older characters in the previous books have died which was disappointing.

A lot more graphic sex than most of her previous books. A lot of characters which makes it hard to follow at times. Not comforting and cosy like the other books in the series, a disappointment.
