About this listen

Coldtown is dangerous. A prison for the damned and those who party with them.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Cruel Prince comes a deliciously dark YA audiobook for fans of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. It's an eternal party, shown on TV 24 hours a day—gorgeous, glamorous and deadly! The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown's gates, you can never leave....

When Tana wakes up one morning after a perfectly ordinary party, she finds herself surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of the massacre are her ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the heart of Coldtown itself.

A wholly original story of rage and revenge, love and loathing from bestselling and critically acclaimed author of The Spiderwick Chronicles and The Folk of the Air series, Holly Black.

Brilliant atmosphere in the narration. Music and occasional side effects.
Story fun and not a typical predictable vampire story

since the first time I read the book when I was either 13/14 I loved the story. I borrowed it so many times from the library that my parents bought it for me for my birthday. 6 years on and I still love the story, even though I am no longer the age of the target demographic. I find that happens for me a lot when it comes to Holly black stories. the audiobook is an accurate reading, with the music surprising but effective.

biased, but I've always loved the story

The beginning was amazing could not put the book down, Somewhere towards the end, I lost interest. This book is not for those who seek explosive vampire romance, but more so like teenage friendly, soft teen girl-hero adventure.

It was ok overall

I love a vampire story & I love stories from Holly Black, so this listen filled the bill in both regards. An enjoyable listen.

Enjoyable.

The Coldest Girl In Coldtown is a marvellous story about vampires, though these vampires aren't the typical take and I found this refreshing.
The storyline had me gripped from the beginning and I was intrigued to find out where this plot was taking us and ultimately where Tana would end.
I really enjoyed listening to this as the atmospheric background music created a suspense and it almost felt like a movie was playing out. The narrator was perfect for this book, her voice and tones played out the scenes well.
I had a little bit of an issue with remembering all of the characters, they all had vital key moments in the storyline but for me, sometimes they got lost in the audio format. Saying that, I still think this is a great novel and I actually have a hardback copy of it, so will re read again.

Highly recommend

loved it

This is not one of her best. I listened to this after listening to Stolen Heir too quickly and then pining for some more Holly Black. This novel explores a different kind of world and while intriguing, just doesn't quite deliver the complexity and intrigue of her Elfhame series. It's still a decent book, but will not be added to my favourites.

LOVE Holly Black but...

I love Holly Black, but this book took a while longer to get into. It got me in the end though and now I’d like more! Can we have book number two please Holly? I want to know what happens next…. 🙂

I’d like a sequel!
