About this listen

Master of international intrigue Daniel Silva follows up his acclaimed #1 New York Times bestsellers The Order, The New Girl, and The Other Woman with this riveting, action-packed tale of espionage and suspense featuring art restorer and spy Gabriel Allon.

The fatal poisoning of a Russian billionaire sends Gabriel Allon on a dangerous journey across Europe and into the orbit of a musical virtuoso who may hold the key to the truth about his friend’s death.

The plot Allon uncovers leads to secret channels of money and influence that go to the very heart of Western democracy and threaten the stability of the global order.

The Cellist is a breathtaking entry in Daniel Silva’s “outstanding series” (People magazine) and reveals once more his superb artistry and genius for invention—and demonstrates why he belongs “firmly alongside le Carré and Forsyth as one of the greatest spy novelists of all time” (The Real Book Spy).

Love Silva’s work, but The Cellist is dull and very hard work. At times it is profoundly boring and there are too many long sections of description without the story moving along. I struggled to finish it and found it a chore.

Slow and uneventful

Way too much anti-Trump propaganda, bordering on TDS, but despite that still enjoy his books. Usually they don't have such a bias.

Incredible series

As a fervent Alon fan l feel that this is novel falls somewhat short of the incredibly high standard that Silva has previously produced. The plot initially had unlimited potential but, for me, the storyline weakened as the adventure unfolded.

Has Silva run out of ideas?

Not the best but Not the worst either. However it's the fact that it was a constant barrage of anti Trump, pro democrat nonsense that bothered me most. Bring those divisive topics up and expect at least 50% of the audience to turn away. I didn't finish. I could out cnn on instead

Propaganda

I really enjoyed this book, it was very well read by the narrator and I look forward to the next book in this fantastic series

Excellent!

This was an amazing story line with excellent twists and turns. It really does make you wonder how international thugs as heads of state can literally get away with murder

Super story, excellent book, as usual

Another great instalment in the series. Very well narrated, a well researched and highly topical story, perfect for all fans of Gabriel Allon and his eclectic band of supporting stars.

Another great instalment

I don't think it helped that it was narrated by somebody different (not George guidall) the story was ok but it seamed a bit rushed at the end and lacking a bit in the middle.
not one I will listen to again.

not the best Gabriel Allon

Several comments disliked the political focus at the end.
Sadly time is proving it to be a fraction of the truth.
Perhaps my only adverse comment would be the narrator rushed it a bit I had to slow the playback a notch to enjoy it.

Ripping yarns for today.

loved the musical references throughout and the detailed spy craft. Will be reading more in this series.
