About this listen

The Catherine Howard Conspiracy is the first audiobook in the Marquess House trilogy, a gripping dual time line conspiracy thriller with an ingenious twist on Tudor history. Perfect for fans of Dan Brown, Philippa Gregory and Kate Mosse.

When Catherine Howard arrives at the court of King Henry VIII to be a maid of honour of the new queen, Anne of Cleves, she has no idea of the fate that awaits her. Catching the king’s fancy, she finds herself caught up in her uncle’s ambition to get a Howard heir to the throne.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Dr Perdita Rivers receives news of the death of her estranged grandmother, renowned Tudor historian Mary Fitzroy. Journeying to her grandmother’s vast estate in Pembrokeshire, Perdita is drawn into the mystery of an ancient document in the archives of Marquess House, a collection of letters that claim the records of Catherine Howard’s execution were falsified....

What truths are hiding in Marquess House? And how was Perdita’s grandmother connected to it all?

Wow

Wow what a book. In some ways I wish it was real but other parts obviously not poor Catherine. This book is a splendid twist on the past and it does make you think at some points. I can’t wait to listen to rest of this series. The story is told well and the switches between past and present are clear which is good, On to the next book

Not my usual genre……

Having just listened to two non-fiction books which had left me a little saddened I was looking for a ‘lighter’ read. I chose this because the title sounds interesting - and actually the book did keep me entertained. I’m not sure always for the right reason as the plots - both historical and present day - actually made me want to laugh out loud they are so silly in places. However, I must have liked it enough as I have just started the second book! Total escapism, be prepared to suspend your disbelief and remember, ‘there is always hope and mermaids’.

Fabulous Tale

I was utterly gripped by the storytelling. It was exactly the pace I like with plenty of historical facts. I SO wanted it to be true though!

Great listen!

This was really good, I was really hoping that somehow our history books got it wrong and the story had some thread of truth. Good narration too.
