About this listen

While out collecting firewood, an impoverish boy in rags (Edwin) encounters a strange creature in the forest (The Goldlock), upon befriending the creature, he soon discovers that the Goldlock's droppings are nuggets of solid gold. As the years pass and Edwin grows into an adult, his humility and good nature is tested beyond all measure as he becomes rich beyond his wildest dreams.

Written in 2020, The Boy and the Goldlock takes a lighter and more accessible approach to language then Lieber's usual prose. In comparison to his 2018 novel The War Hero, The Boy and the Goldlock could almost be considered a work of children’s literature, but as with all Lieber's fiction, the audiobook is teaming with allegory, symbolism, and allusive metaphor.
