About this listen

When Attorney Sabre Brown’s eccentric Aunt Goldie dies, leaving a series of cryptic notes, Sabre launches the most intriguing and frustrating investigation of her life. While sorting through the piles of junk her hoarder aunt left behind, Sabre must keep Goldie’s greedy, dysfunctional children at bay. But she also discovers unexpected treasures, family secrets, and her aunt’s suspicions that someone was trying to kill her.

But soon Sabre is torn in another direction when she takes a case involving four children whose brother was murdered in their home, and no evidence of who killed him.

When her PI boyfriend and good-natured brother step in to help, they also get caught up in the labyrinth of clutter, deceit, and attempted murder. Sabre must hold everything together long enough to bring a killer to justice, protect the child’s siblings, and carry out her aunt’s bizarre last wishes.

Follow the clues to get through the maze

I loved this book. This is book twelve in the Advocate series and it shows no signs of losing the magic. The author always writes about difficult and hard cases with care and compassion that keeps you hooked, making this a must listen or read series. This time around Sabre has her hands full with two cases, the death of her aunt and the murder of a young boy. Two very different cases but both equally compelling. It also delves into the world of hoarders, which was just fascinating and made for a great story. The characters are what makes this series for me, Sabre and JP are perfect as a couple and as a team, I love his sayings they just makes me laugh. Can't wait for the next book.
When Sabre's aunt rings her begging for help as she is taken away in an ambulance, Sabre has no idea of the trouble that lies ahead. Here Aunt Goldie was a hoarder and despite having several grown children none of which she was close too, she wants Sabre to take care of the estate. Daunted by the task of sorting everything out and facing her squabbling cousins she enlists her brother and boy friend to help but the more they uncover the more she learns that despite being close to her she never really new her aunt. In amongst all the papers her aunt left multiple instructions and wishes for Sabre but the most worrying one is the fact that she thinking someone was trying to kill her. She died, so could she have been right? At the same time Sabre is needed in court when a young body is murdered in his bed, it is up to Sabre to protect his brother and sister's but does she choose who they should live with when one of the parents could be a killer?
I liked the narrator, he has a deep voice but somehow it works well for the characters and helps make it entertaining, not that the plot needed the help.

Dual approach

This book was actually what seemed to be two cases being resolved at about the same time. Both were full of intrigue and did not end up the way one would speculate. Very good story with many twists and turns and good closure.

I have enjoyed the entire series to day and this is just another example of excellent writing.

The narrator was good also.

This book was provided free of charge with expectation of an honest review.
