About this listen

In this captivating and heartwarming romance from award-winning screenwriter Michael Elliot (Just Wright, Brown Sugar) and executive producer Queen Latifah, Oakland-bred LaVeesha “Vee” Gilliam (Coco Jones) is a determined single mother of an autistic son and a gifted aspiring coder. When Vee loses her job as a food-services worker at the onsite restaurant at Grapengine, a large Silicon Valley tech company, she’s unable to pay for her son’s much-needed specialized education. By a twist of fate, mistaken identity, and her tech skills, Vee meets Troy Wilson (Keith Powers), the company’s wealthy founder and CEO and a wunderkind in the tech industry, who believes that Vee is a college-educated techie who works at his company. Fate meets Vee’s raw talent, ideas, and work ethic, and both her career and romance blooms–but what will happen when Vee’s true identity is revealed?

In addition to the performances, which were fab, as a mother w an autistic child, I appreciated!!! it was very authentic in loads of ways, including the lead romantic figure being undiagnosed on the spectrum. IMHO. And love the thought of a hardworking, comitted mom finding her joy in her profession too. Kudos to supporting cast both in performance and plot, Vee would not have made it without you. ✨️🌟✨️❤️

Sweet Story

I almost gave up on the first chapter, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
The story isn't original in the slightly. We've seen many movies and books with the same storyline.
However, it was well done, and the narration was pretty good, too.

not original at all

i feel as though it could've been longer. it was too fast paced. what happened next? does vee get rehired? left a lot of unanswered questions. i did enjoy the listen though, hence 5 stars.

i loved the storyline, it was nice to see autism awareness.

Rarely do I enjoy a romance but I’m glad I’ve found shorter books and audibles. A story of a single mum with unrecognised talent, slides far too easily into a role at a tech company. A son who needs to attend a school that can better support him with his condition is extremely expensive. The only way to get a job to financially Super this decision is to pretend to be someone else. Her skill set is evident and she takes a business from good to great until her true identity is known. With a plot twist the story has a lovely ending.

A pleasant novella

I liked the lengths V was willing to go through to get what she needed to make her son’s life with autism , better and the chemistry between her and Troy.

Romantic and uplifting

Cute story about a single mum working hard to provide for her autistic child. It’s sweet and uplifting but not something that will keep you on your toes and make you think it’s the best book you’ve ever listened to.

Pleasant uplift background listen.
