About this listen
The Year is 1942.
Imperial Japan conquered most of the Pacific in a blitzkrieg campaign that stunned the world. The Dutch East Indies, The Philippines, New Guinea, New Britain, Hawaii, the Fijis, and countless other territories have fallen. With landings in Australia, raids on the U.S. Mainland, and campaigns in Burma, the Imperial forces have expanded the Japanese realm and still look unstoppable.
The Allies are now regrouping from the catastrophic losses they have taken in the last six months. The Port Moresby base in New Guinea still holds out against Imperial forces, and General Douglas MacArthur has no intention of giving it away. The last line of defense before northern and eastern Australia must hold. Things are looking better in Western Australia, where the Imperial Japanese forces are bogged down against the continent’s immensity and supply problems.
In Hawaii, Grand Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto prepares his forces for the unavoidable American attack from the U.S. Pacific Fleet. America must reconquer Oahu before contemplating any kind of liberation campaign in the Pacific. A big battle will soon be fought.
In China, Chiang Kai Shek’s Nationalist forces are fighting a Japanese offensive in Yunnan Province, while the British reinforce in India.
The action promise to be intense as more battles are about to be fought in the Coral Sea, Japan, the Pacific, China, and the Hawaiian Islands.
This is the story of the Pacific War.
