About this listen

Based on a true story, Stern by Name, Stern by Nature offers an unflinching and intimate portrayal of one of the UK's most promising and eminent philosophers. This groundbreaking work delves deep into the psyche of the protagonist as he navigates the tumultuous landscape of mental health struggles.

Why this audiobook stands out:

  • Authentic Experience: Written during the author's actual recovery from psychosis, providing a raw and genuine perspective.
  • Philosophical Depth: Explores complex ideas through the lenses of Socionics, Neo-Tech philosophy, and other advanced systems.
  • Emotional Resonance: Shares some of the protagonist’s most precious and sensitive thoughts, fostering a deep connection with listeners.
  • Inspirational Message: Aims to empower those experiencing mental health challenges by reframing their condition as a misunderstood lifestyle rather than a need for curing.

A story of resilience and understanding between 2004 and 2009, the protagonist faces multiple and recurring episodes that lead to numerous hospitalizations. Throughout these years, he strives to make sense of the world, viewing it through a unique philosophical perspective. This previously unreleased work not only chronicles his struggles, but also illuminates his journey towards self-discovery and acceptance.

Who should listen to this audiobook:

  • Individuals battling mental health issues: Offering hope and a new perspective on their experiences.
  • Philosophy enthusiasts: Engaging with profound thoughts and innovative philosophical systems.
  • Mental health advocates: Gaining insights into the lived experiences of those navigating mental health challenges.

Stern by Name, Stern by Nature is more than just a memoir—it is a beacon of understanding and a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Whether you're seeking solace, inspiration, or a deeper comprehension of mental health through a philosophical lens, this book is an essential listen.

I’m glad I took a punt on Spencer’s autobiography even if he was only 24 when he wrote it. Anyone with an LII personality type will enjoy the content and if interested in socionics will not be fazed by the assumption of knowing all the intertype relationships :)
