About this listen
Love wasn’t part of the blueprint when high school sweethearts reunite in their small town. But this former military man never forgot the girl he left behind and he’s more determined than ever for a second chance to rebuild their relationship brick by brick and heart by heart.
Getting locked in the men’s restroom during my mother’s funeral wasn’t exactly how I expected to run into my high school sweetheart. The one who got away. The one who broke my heart.
I could toss the busted doorknob in my hand at him, but I’d prefer to get the heck away. Because twenty years later, Knox Sylver isn’t a teenage boy anymore but a broad-shouldered, thick scruff man with eyes that still look at me like I’m the only person in the room.
As a newly divorced mother of two teenagers, it’s been a long time since anyone sees me. And Knox is definitely watching.
Unfortunately, he made choices in the past and I wasn’t one of them.According to him, that is ancient history.
Also, according to him, it’s never too late for a second chance. He’s out to prove he’s solid and stable, having returned to our small hometown, in a better place after a career in the military. He’s a local hero as a fireman and he wants to rekindle the flame between us.
I’m the one with decisions this round.
Do I stay where memories hurt? Or do I leave my past, and Knox, behind me again?
+ + +From L.B. Dunbar comes an all-new small-town romance with a big family and the silver fox swoon one expects from her love over-40 romances.

Awesome Narration
LB Dunbar writes relatable, real life, over 40 characters and I've never been disappointed in any of her stories. This one was no exception. Sterling Brick is the 2nd book in the Sterling Falls series and follows Knox and Halle, two high school sweethearts who meet again after 20 years.
Knox might have ended their relationship all those years ago, and she would have moved on with her life, but now that Halle's newly divorced and they're both back in their home town, he intends to win her back by showing her, he's not the boy that broke her heart but a man she can count on.
Of course it won't be easy as there's alot of resentment and hurt feelings to work through plus new obstacles to overcome.
The story was emotional, steamy, heartwarming and entertaining. It gave us family drama, heartbreak, love, great chemistry and so much more. There were some trigger topics included in the story which were really well handled. This small town, single mom, second chance romance was wonderfully written and is a fantastic addition to the series. I would definitely recommend it.
🎧 I listened to the audiobook version which was narrated by Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller. They were the perfect choices for these characters. I loved Patrick gravelly voice and he did a fantastic job changing his pitch and volume during those steamy scenes. Stella was also remarkable and I loved her southern accent. They were both able to convey the characters emotions in a realistic way that really brought it all to life. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Engaging & Heartfelt!
This wonderful small town second chance romance not only captivates your attention for the entire book, but it tugs at your heartstrings, too. Halle Reynolds is back in the town where she grew up in, the small town of Sterling Falls, a place she never planned to return to. After her mother passed away, she inherited her childhood home and, since she had just divorced her husband, Jack, she had nowhere else to go. So here she is with her two children, Violet and Tim. She plans to sell the house and then get something closer to her ex-husbands since they share custody. She also never planned to see Knox Sylver again, her childhood sweetheart, and the one who broke her heart. Knox's worst decision and biggest regret was leaving Halle, those years ago, but now he can make it right and win back her heart, the one he never stopped loving. I adored Knox, he admits to his mistakes and his patience with Halle and her children was admirable. This beautiful story is not only a second chance romance, but it is a second chance of getting it right and even more for Halle, who had lost herself along the way. I loved the depth and all the layers of this story, as well as the complexities of the characters. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. There is never a dull moment, and the story has a perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. L.B. Dunbar, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, understood who they were portraying and gave each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Hunter nailed it as Halle, grasping all sides of her personality, and Zeller did the same for Knox. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration elevates this already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Sterling Brick: Sterling Falls Book 2
🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧
I’ve never really been disappointed in an LB Dunbar story and as a matter of fact, she’s one of the very few authors I go-to when I’m in the mood to read a later in life romance because she always delivers!
From the very beginning, I got such a good vibe from the story that I didn’t get very far before I stopped listening and downloaded Sterling Heat to listen to first because I didn’t want to miss out on anything in the series! I KNOW, I’m weird like that! So far, Sterling Falls is #winning for me!!
Sterling Brick is not what I would consider an angst-driven story, even with the shattered past circumstance, but it carried a whole lot of emotion, imo. I love these types of stories so much because I can feel the story without being weighed down with angst and it becoming a complete #cryfest! Knox & Halle had fabulous banter and incredibly great chemistry and the narration by Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller brought the story to life and made me feel like I was a part of the story, like a bystander. It was a really great experience all around.
When a story is written as well as this one was and the narrators flawlessly bring the story to life, it makes for an out standing experience. A++ for both the story itself and the narration!

Emotional Slow Burn
This was an emotional slow burn second chance romance. It was full of past memories, broken hearts, hidden truths & guilt.
Both Hailey & Nash have been through a lot in the years since they were high school sweethearts, they each have things they need to heal from and forgive themselves for, they also have obstacles of the present they have to overcome.
This was emotional and frustrating and angsty.
Stella Hunter & Patrick Zeller both brought so much emotion to this story.

Small Town Romance
This is the second book in the Sterling Falls Series, a small town romance. Knox and Hayley's story is filled with drama, miscommunication, secrets, suspense, and twists and turns. Hayley, a single mom, is beautiful, strong, and determined. I liked her kids, Tim and Violet. Knox is handsome, enigmatic, supportive, and protective. This is a beautiful second chance romance. Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller did a great job bringing these characters and this story to life.

Knox and Halle!
After serving his country for the last two decades Knox has returned to his hometown where he is now working as a fireman. Seeing Halle, his first and only love, only reinforces the painful decision he made to end their relationship before he left but it wasn’t because he didn’t love but because he did. He wants a chance to rewrite their past but that means showing her that she can trust him with her heart.
After having her heart broken by Knox Halle moved forward with her life however, she is now a divorced single mother of her two children. Her return to her hometown will only last as long as it takes to finalize her mother’s estate but keeping her distance from Knox is proving to difficult and it will force her to make peace with the past.
When it comes to the performance of the narrators it was everything you could want and more. They drew you into the characters and their story and had you feeling every emotion that they were feeling.

Stand alone second chance
This is the only book I've read/listened to in the Sterling Falls series and it can easily be read as a stand alone.
Second chance is one of my least favorite tropes, but after seeing that Sterling Brick had mature characters, including a divorced heroine with kids age 12-14, I thought I'd give it a try. I did like the characters, setting and that the characters had life experience. I would also be interested in reading more of the series. I think this would be an excellent book for fans of second chance (which is why I bumped the rating up to 5 stars).
I listened to the audio version. It is narrated by Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller. I thought they did a great job and I appreciated that they sounded age-appropriate for the characters.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

4.5 Stars!
This was a cute second chance romance story with an older couple. Our couple here, Knox and Halle, both return home to their small-town after years of being away and away from each other. Knox, returns after he retires from the Navy. Halle returns after her divorce and to fix up her mother’s home in order to put it on the market. They haven’t seen each other in 20 years after Knox broke Halle’s heart. Now, having lived such full, yet separate lives, can they rekindle their love and get their second chance?
I really enjoyed Knox and Halle’s story. I wasn’t sure if the author could pull of a second-chance romance that occurs 20 years from their original romance. But I was pleasantly surprised. Their romance was believable, and I was rooting for them throughout. It was nice to see an older couple, in their 40s, after living their lives (Knox has had his career, Halle is now divorced with 2 teens), being able to finally pursue what they really want in life. I also enjoyed the small-town setting. Overall, the story was emotion-filled, with a little bit of heartbreak, that ends in a lovely HEA. Just soo cute!
Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller did amazingly at the narrations. Their voices made the characters and the story even more believable. All the different emotions the characters went through throughout the story was portrayed very well. And, they helped bring the overall story to life.
I received a complimentary ALC from Home Cooked Books and all opinions are my own.

Knox & Halle
Love over 40s never sounded so good - even if they aren’t quite 40 yet in the book. Who doesn’t want a Sylver fox :) in their lives? Sterling Falls seems to have quite a few of them around.
Knox’s easy going attitude and troubled past and Halle’s rekindling with herself drew me in completely. Second chance romances are my weakness, all the time lost but all the hope of a HEA. Swoon!!
Patrick Zeller’s voice as Knox was so perfect I had goosebumps! Stella Hunter voiced the sweet Halle with all her softness and tenacity. Just wonderful.

Ah Brick! Love him!
What do I love about this book? Everything! This is the kind of story that pulls at the heart strings. A second chance, military, single mom romance could not be better told than by LB Dunbar. Hayley is back in Sterling Falls after the death of her mother. Recently divorced, she is looking to update the house, sell it and start her life over with her two children. Little did she know Knox would be at the funeral. Knox is retired military, now living back home and when he sees Hayley, he knows it their time. Now to be patient and win her back. But is she willing to uproot her children from the place they know as home? Will her ex-husband play a part in her decision? And does her heart still belong to this man? I know mine would. Knox is sweet and warm. He knows his decisions have led them to where they are and they may not have been the right ones. Hayley carries a lot of guilt and fear when it comes to what makes her happy. She needs to sit back, reassess and get her life together. And the kids add to her thoughts. Love Tim and Violet, the kids we have all had and attitudes we have all dealt with. This story has a true to life feel with an incredible couple and town. I can't wait to visit again!
Stella Hunter and Patrick Zeller are the story tellers for this fabulous story and they make it real. Hunter becomes Hayley, portraying with true emotions of a mom, a daughter and an ex-wife. I could feel each one as she poured through the story. Zeller adds his voice as Knox, strong and loving and then at times extremely vulnerable. These two made this come alive and gave my heart all it needed.
