About this listen

Stunningly honest and bursting with wit, Someday Maybe is the story of grief and resilience that you won't be able to stop talking about

Here are three things you should know about my husband:

1. He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado

2. He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy.

3. On New Year’s Eve, he killed himself

And here is one thing you should know about me:

1. I found him.

Bonus fact: No. I am not okay

Eve is left heartbroken by her husband's unexpected death, but everyone around her–her friends, her boisterous British-Nigerian family, her toxic mother-in-law–seems to be pushing her to move on. Unable to face the future, Eve begins looking back, delving through the history of her marriage in an attempt to understand where it went wrong. So begins an unconventional love story about loss, resilience, and a heroine bursting with rage and unexpected joy.

Beautifully written. The characters were all so believable and so relatable. A difficult subject matter addressed with empathy, grit, warmth and an understanding. I love this story.
Thank you.

A beautifully real read.

Onyi’s story was so well written and whilst it’s not a true story you could clearly feel the tragedy of the main character, so well written and full of emotion. I felt throughout that the feelings the main character was going through were authentic having lost someone to suicide. Thank you.

Beautiful and raw

Brilliant narration! An easy and relatable story about grief but most beautifully about the community that is around you when you are falling apart. Great read.

This book is beautifully written about the darkest part of life and getting through to the other side. I liked that this written from the perspective of his wife and the memories of their love while being surrounded by family love while you don’t have the ability to love because you are full of grief and just trying to survive.
