About this listen

All's fair in murder and mayhem

Ezra

Love isn't on my mind when I sign up for the yearly Sinners Retreat, but a chance meeting at the airport changes everything.

We click right away, and my bond with Kindra only deepens when we discover our mutual love for the most macabre hobbies. But then she brings up her brother's unsolved murder and her real reason for being here—to find his killer. That's when my past finally catches up with me, and I'm faced with an impossible choice.

Do I tell her the truth and risk losing her, or can I find a way to keep my real identity a secret forever?

Sinners Retreat is a dark romantic comedy with explosive chemistry, razor-sharp humor, and a love story that’s anything but safe.

Although this dark rom-com is "DIET" Lauren Biel, it still has adult themes. Full list of content warnings on my website. Please listen responsibly!

The cast did a fantastic job! I loved the banter. It was LOL, spit-your-drink-out funny at some parts.

The audio definitely made this book better. I'm so glad I did it on audio.

I don’t get the hype for this book! I was expecting Lights out & B&B level of dark-rom-com. This just fell so flat. Once they arrive on the island it just becomes more difficult to buy into. The only way to really describe it is empty. The plot had such potential but it’s far too rushed, the timeline is ridiculous even for fiction, and the humour/sarcasm feels really forced. I really didn’t like that the MMC is a liar for the majority of the book. It felt awkward to read; regardless of his reasoning. I didn’t particularly enjoy Enzo narrator either, i found him slightly annoying. The spice is really lacking, the laughs are more or less non existent.
The positives: it’s a quick read/listen. I appreciated them being older than 19/20. The FMC being a curvy girl made a really nice change to read.
Sadly I won’t be moving onto book 2 when that’s released!

I don’t get the hype?! It’s just okay.

This a dark ro-com & lauren Biel lite novel. I laughed so much reading this despite the serious themes. Ezra & Kindra had explosive chemistry & these two seriel 💀 had admired each other s work from afar & then they ended up at a sinners retreat for fellow minded peope, where kinks were explored and secrets come out. There was two pineapple 🍍 scenes that dropped my jaw on the floor 😳 then I just had to laugh(won't spoil if for you) . Will definitely read the other books in the series .
This was fun reading on my kindle but the audiobook was great as well. It has some of your favourite narrators & that was satisfying because sometimes books get ruined by poor narration.

best dark rom-com
