About this listen

When a book launch party turns murderous, can he capture a killer before they escape justice?

DCI Harry Grimm has a sneaking suspicion the bleak Yorkshire Dales are growing on him. Though shadows from his big-city past still loom, he’s finding his place among the quirky townsfolk and their eccentric eating habits. But his gruesome crime scene expertise takes center stage when a successful visiting author is found dead.

Investigating the cantankerous writer’s entourage, Grimm lines up too many suspects with motives for murder. But with the evidence not adding up and the press piling on relentless pressure, the determined policeman could end up facing his own final chapter.

Can this seasoned detective solve a sinister case of fatal fair game?

Shooting Season is the atmospheric fourth book in the DCI Harry Grimm crime fiction series. If you like complex heroes, fast-paced action, and murky mysteries, then you’ll love David J. Gatward’s gritty manhunt.

I’m getting really hooked on these books dying to know what happens next
Really recommend reading these

Love these books

The story was a bit weak. I guessed who the murderer was as soon as Charlie was killed.
However I did enjoy the book. I found the narration good apart from the voice of Anna. I could not help but giggle due to the fact it sounded like Grandad from Only Fools and Horses. I kept expecting her to say Del Boy at any minute.

Not as good as the first books

wonderful Yorkshire and the Dale's, detective stories, changing perceptions and nice people. so tired of lead characters with drink, marital, aggression, angst excess violence and superior officer issues. for all Harry's problem background he is in a way uncomplicated and the story doesn't get lost. reader is a bit too gruff and forceful but that doesn't spoil the enjoyment.

love it

however I would. it describe them as a thriller. A good police story but not a thriller. I live near to the area this is set in and it's great to hear the places they visit etc

I like these books

Love this series, so masterfully written, diverse characters that all work so well. Perfect narrator for this series-so talented in bringing them all to life, I feel I know them all so well. Such wonderful descriptions of settings interspersed with the procedural and of course the humour-refreshing change to find laugh out loud moments in the midst of a serious investigation. Plus Harry’s complex backstory -may there be many more to come.

Fabulous

So pleased I found this author and Harry Grimm. The stories are so gripping and the narrator is amazing. Will have to dig deep into my pockets to extend my credits as I can’t wait another month to read the next one. Reading this series makes me want to visit Wensleydale and see it’s beauty for myself

Love these stories of Harry and his team
