Nga-Yee, a librarian, lives a quiet life with her 15-year-old sister, Siu-Man. After a difficult, impoverished upbringing and the deaths of their parents, they are finally finding a bit of stability. Then one day, Nga-Yee comes home to find her teenage sister has jumped to her death. Was it suicide, or was she pushed? And does it have anything to do with a recent trip on the Hong Kong subway which left Siu-Man silent and withdrawn? Nga-Yee cannot rest until she knows the truth about her sister - even if that means tracking down her sister's friends one by one and making them confess.

Five stars is not enough!
What a fantastic book! Chan Ho-Kei is one amazing writer. Although I thought the story was slowish to start with, on reflection i was wrong. It was necessary to set the scene and it very soon became absolutely gripping! I don’t know if all the very detailed information given re hacking and the internet is accurate , but it reads as though it is, or should be. It’s described as a “Revenge Novel”, but it is soo much more. Apart from the fascinating characters, computer science, psychology, philosophy and a twisted story which will catch you out every time I’m sure. It has some interesting glimpses into Chinese culture. The names may cause you to stop and think at the beginning, but the characters are well fleshed out and soon take on a portrait of their own. Besides, many Chinese people also take an English name and this helps. I wish I could give it more than five stars, it’s very worth it. The narrator Laurence Bouvard did a very good job, but it was a little strange to hear a Hong Kong cleanse speak with a bronx accent, but hey, why not? This would make an excellent first in a book series, film or tv series!

Suspense and story telling
Loved it so much. Intriguing, suspense filled and extremely interesting. I’ll totally recommend this to anyone.

Loss and revenge
Nga-Yee comes home one day to find that her little sister Siu-Man has jumped to her death from their apartment on the 22nd floor. Having lost both of their parents in previous years, Nga-Yee now no longer qualifies to live in their family home - the apartment is meant for families, not people living alone. Having lost pretty much everything, she sets out to discover who was behind the online hate campaign that drove her little sister to suicide. Along with the grumpy and cynical hacker N., she starts hunting them down, with one goal: to make them pay for what they have done.
This was a captivating story, I just had to keep listening a little bit more. Will certainly keep an eye out for more books by Chan Ho-Kei.

To drawn out and far too many long speechese
Struggled to finish it had to jump chapter's could have been told in less chapters
