About this listen
What's the first rule of running a gym by and for combat vets? Enjoy the scorching hot scenery, but get your kicks somewhere else.
Never mind that my cousin-slash-business partner ignores that rule every chance he gets. I don't ignore it. Ever. And frankly, between Grindr, and living in one of the gayest cities in America, it's not exactly a hardship.
Hell, it's so easy, I can do it on one leg.
That is, until a pair of blue eyes, swimming with vulnerability, shows up at my door, looking for a job. He's too skinny, too mouthy, and way too young for the likes of me, but he pings that protector instinct in me - hard.
I want to fix whatever put that lost look in his eyes, but to manage that, I'd have to do the one thing I said I'd never do.
Break my own rules.
Sanctuary is an MM military romance, featuring hurt-comfort, found family, and a gym full of ripped men, wearing tight shorts, and lifting heavy objects.
This is the first audiobook in the Wrecked series. The characters - Evie, Scout, Jake and Jean-Pierre - first appear in Scout and the Lavender Girl, written under my pen name, K.C. Littleton.

The secondary characters are amazingly well drawn and all are interesting, Roly, Jake, Jean-Pierre, Scout, Evie, Jules, Leon and the wonderful Mr. Morris who helps Elijah get the job at the gym. All of these get their moments to shine and tell parts of their story. Books about most of them seem to be coming soon or are already out (Scout/Evie). There is one character whose change might just require tissues but no spoiler from me. It is totally unexpected and a lovely surprise.
The other boxes this checked for me are all the details given about running a gym, planning programs for it, helping vets with injuries in their physical therapy and what I'm not sure is a recognized trope but is at least a scene I am coming to love, the one where a homophobic or transphobic character gets their comeuppance. So satisfying. Once Nick and Elijah start getting together the scenes are very hot and very tender at the same time and are beautifully done.
I've both longed for and dreaded this one coming to audio. I've read it so many times I was afraid it wouldn't get the performance it deserved. Thank goodness it was handed over to John Solo. He let me hear all those different characters Kelly Fox gave us and he captured the humor and the hurt Nick and Elijah experienced perfectly. My favorite scenes as described above were done just as I wanted them to be. Perfect mix of story and performer.
Perfect match of story and performer

I’ve long loved the book and the characters of Nick and Elijah. The found family aspect of the novel is dreamy. Fox excels in this area.
The hot times are smoking, the vulnerable times endearing.
John Solo’s performance as he narrates the book is exceptional. The best word for his voice is smooth. It’s an honest delight to listen to.
Amazing book, beautiful audio
