About this listen

It’s paranormal women’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove.

Okay yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal. Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She’s playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Thankfully, her new friends have powers of their own, and together they just might discover who or what has it in for the quiet citizens of Moonstone Cove.

Runaway Fate is the first book in the hot new Paranormal Women’s Fiction series, Moonstone Cove by USA Today bestselling author, Elizabeth Hunter.

It’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

An Engaging Thriller To Kick Off A New Series.

I’m already a fan of Elizabeth Hunter’s books and love her writing style. Her stories tick all the boxes for me. An intelligent writing style that's easy to read. Protagonists with personality traits that feel credible. A range of supporting characters that earn their place in the story. Plots and settings that feel believable – even when based in a paranormal world. And finally, a balanced mix of relationship, tension, action, humour and mystery in the plot line.

As a menopausal woman, I love that the Moonstone Cove series has older protagonists and supporting characters. About bloody time! Woohoo! I loved the relationships featured in this story; our protagonist's marriage to Baxter (it was beautiful and refreshing to see) and the evolving friendships between Katherine, Megan, and Toni.

I’d recommend Runaway Fate to anyone who enjoys stories about the value of strong, healthy friendships. Those who enjoy thrillers with danger, twists and unexpected surprises. But who also crave second coming-of-age adventures for older, independent, capable women. And appreciate a generous helping of banter, humour and realistic issues for the over 40s within a paranormal mystery.

We're treated to the first chapter of the next story in the Moonstone Cove at the end of this audiobook. I want to listen to Fate Actually - now!! Lol!

I need more!

This is the first book in the Moonstone Cove series, a paranormal women’s fiction. I loved it! This series is a spin-off series of the Glimmer Lake series. I haven't listened to this series yet. Katherine's story is well written, entertaining and intriguing. The cast of supporting characters is great. I liked Katherine's husband, and her new friends. Toni and Megan. The world building is original and interesting. I liked the humor, the action, the suspense,, the mystery, the twists and turns, and the friendship in this story. I would love to know more about the characters from The Glimmer Lake series. Ava Lucas did an excellent job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice. Looking forward to listening to Fate Actually, the next book in the series.

Friendship and super natural gifts

The three main characters are Katherine, Toni and Megan. The story centres around friendship and the bond they create. Something happens and the three women receive supernatural gifts. This story was a little bit slow to get going.

The narrators were great and did a really good job bringing the story to life.
