About this listen

You can’t escape the devil inside you…

When a nosey couple report that an elderly neighbour hasn’t been seen for a few days, local police investigate and make the grisly discovery before calling in the Major Crimes Team.

Detective Chief Inspector Freya Bloom and Detective Inspector Savage lead the investigation, discovering conflicting evidence. Albert Reilly suffered a heart attack, but has a single head wound. The back door is locked, but a little window beside it is broken, and there is no sign of a struggle.

The mystery deepens when they discover that not only is Reilly’s oldest friend missing, but none of his surviving family were on speaking terms with him, leaving Freya and Ben no option but to treat the death as suspicious – the problem is that every one of them wanted him dead, they each had a key to his house, and they all have something to hide.

The multifaceted investigation proves to be one of their most challenging endeavours which is only amplified by conflicting personalities within the team and the loss of a colleague.

Run from Evil is the fifteenth crime book in the best-selling Wild Fens mysteries by Jack Cartwright, the million-selling author of the Deadly Wolds Mysteries.

Fans of Jack Cartwright also enjoy books by LJ Ross, J.M. Dalgliesh, Simon McCleave, Ann Cleeves, and Val McDermid.

Excellent Story once again.

Run from evil is in my opinion one of the best in the series. What makes the story for me is the way that not just the main characters are followed but you have the whole team and their personalities intertwined into the story.

Best in the series so far.

I loved this book and absolutely sailed through it in no time. I couldn’t put it down.
The story line is strong and the characters are as good as ever.

I've done it again!!

I wait impatiently for the next in the series!! I'm so invested in the characters and can't wait to see what happens next!!
As usual I loved the storyline, the way the plot twists and turns, and the back story while the solving of the crimes is going on!! unfortunately I get so gripped that I finish the story in a couple of days & have a long wait for the next one!!
I've read every single book by this author and have never been disappointed.
