About this listen
The second book in the internationally best-selling series!
A deadly contagion has spread across the country, turning the afflicted into violent monsters and the streets into battlegrounds. The government has fallen. Once great cities lay in ruins. And those cursed with immunity have braved the chaos to take shelter in military bases unprepared to withstand the continuous attacks of the infected.
But that’s not the worst part.
An ancient evil intent on bringing about the end of the world has awakened. Fortunately, a Hopi elder who’s spent his entire life awaiting the fulfillment of the prophecies foretelling its return has traveled the highways, leaving signs summoning the chosen to the site of humanity’s last stand.
If they can reach it in time.
An FBI agent and a prescient teenage girl need to fight their way down the west coast. An expert on indigenous languages and a woman with precognitive abilities must battle inland from the east. And a pair of scientists have to escape from a doomed research facility so they can share a discovery that the entire world needs to know: The virus runs its course in 72 hours. All the immune have to do is survive that long.
And pray the forces of darkness don’t find them first.
©2023 Michael McBride (P)2023 Michael McBrideThe performance of this book was not as good as the first but once I got used to the different narrator I was able to still in enjoy the book.
And the editing of the audio was not as good as the first book but once I got used to it it was ok.
I really enjoyed this book a viral plague at an evil god what more could you want in a apocalyptic adventure.
this book was kind of like a cross between 28 Days Later and the stand all in one book.
there are few characters to keep track of but you really feel yourself getting invested in what happens to them.
I enjoyed it so much I've already got the second book and I started listening to it
goodbye to the 4th world

Bad narration

This is probably the WORST narrator I’ve ever heard. Is it an early version of AI? I’ve heard deaf people speak with more animation. Siri sounds more human. I almost dropped it in the virtual trash can. A zombie would be better
It’s a human narrator?

The narrator is different in this book , oh man , she is not just emotionless but she almost sounds like a robot as she speaks each word individually. Like a shopping list . It took me about four hours to adjust enough to follow the story and I had to rewind frequently. Why would you write such a fantastic book and not vet the narrator?
I’m going to see if there’s a book 3 . I’m scared to look though incase it’s the same narrator . Wish me luck
I would actually buy these books again if they were put out with a good story teller .
Still a brilliant story but…

I don’t normally leave reviews but this has inspired me…….
The recording is simply incredible. How this ever passed a production process is beyond me. It sounds like a computer generated voice. As for the story I don’t really know. I got an hour in to it and just couldn’t go on. It was painful.
This is going back as I feel coned
Siri reads this
