About this listen
NOW A SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER!
THE EPIC NEW EAGLES OF THE EMPIRE NOVEL FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR SIMON SCARROW - THE PERFECT BOOK FOR THE SEASON OF ROME!
ROME AND BOUDICA. A DUEL TO THE DEATH.
AD 61. Britannia is divided.
The rebel horde has been defeated. But the leader, Boudica, and her remaining warriors are still at large. With them is the eagle standard of the Ninth Legion, taken in ambush, flaunted as proof that Rome can yet be beaten.
The embers of rebellion are still glowing . . .
The toll has been heavy, with countless men lost, and major towns in ruins. The bodies of the dead are strewn across the streets. And for Centurion Macro, there is the scarring knowledge that his mother perished in the attack on Londinium.
As Macro's heart burns for revenge, he and his comrade-in-arms Prefect Cato are tasked with hunting down the remnants of the enemy army. There can be no peace until the queen is captured or killed. And Roman honour will only be restored when the eagle standard has been recovered.
IF YOU DON'T KNOW SIMON SCARROW, YOU DON'T KNOW ROME!

Another Fine Adventure For The Duo
Scarrow has again given us a goodd thoughtful story with his excellent battle scenes.
Jonathan Kebble gives his usual top notch performance and really does make our heroes, their families , enemies and all come to life.
This might be the last for the boys but I shall keep and eye out for the chance of another in this most enjoyable series.

A quality 10/10 series
I love this series of books and seeing the characters develop as they have, I have no idea if this will be the last one, I could see it going both ways but what a nice way to end it if it is… but I would love to see Cato go into political office somehow and I imagine Vespasian would come out of the wood work again maybe showing himself more in the story as him/cato and macro have to deal with politics in Rome again with Vespasian gaining a lot of ground in the senate??
No clue how it will go I just hope we do get another book or two

Scarrow at his best!
This book was brilliant as always. If you love Roman fiction stories, then this series is perfect for you. Filled with thrills, action drama and even political intrigue the further into the series you go. This particular book was absolutely superb followings several established characters and developing some new ones. My only complaint is that I now have to wait for the next installment!
As always, the narration by Jonathan Keeble was perfect for the story and the various characters.

So good to listen to these. I just wish Simon could write at 1000x faster. So envious of people who are listening to this series for the first time!

Fantastic story, phenomenal performance
what else can be said? This book, like all the others in the series, has left me wanting more. This book has left me no less eager to read on than the very first in the series. Bravo Mr Scarrow.
