A solid continuation of the first book, loved following Yu and her tumultuous first year at her sect, she certainly knows how to get into trouble. I can't wait to listen to the next installment.

i thoroughly enjoyed these two novels a great balance between the story overall and the day to day activities the main character encounters, some of the best narration I've ever heard with distinct voices that at times I believed to be different people

can't wait for the 3rd title and wish I'd discovered it later on

I particularly like this book because the MC is so rationale. She displays intelligence and forethought and is a BEAST to top it off.
Moreover, the world is vast and the story has soo much potential for more. We are exposed to several side characters who I can imagine will be integral in future books.
Oh, and I can't wait to see how the MC's bonded companion progresses as well

Narrator does a good job, though the very high pitch voices and the child journal voices are painful to listen to

For those of you who doesn’t know what a cultivation novel is, look it up before deciding if this sub genre is for you. If you are into fast paced, action packed novels, then you’ll probably find them slow going and undemanding and therefore boring. Book 1 (24 hours) and book 2 (>28 hours) took the main character's training from age 11-15, give or take.
Would I have bought this book if I’d known what a cultivation novel is? Very probably not. I almost gave up on bk 1 about halfway through (kept going by the excellent narration) and kept wondering why the author was taking so long to 'get on with it'! It got a bit more interesting towards the end as the author decided to inject some (sarcastic?) humour into the main character. This was a deciding factor for me to buy book 2, which is slightly faster paced, has more action and variety, and humour.
Would I buy book 3 when it comes out? Not at all sure. Probably yes…..
