About this listen

Secret identities. Extraordinary powers.

She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies - humans with extraordinary abilities - who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone...except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice - and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

Critic reviews

"Meyer delivers a balance between intricate world-building and fast-paced action sequences." (School Library Journal)

"In a vividly dark and fully imagined universe where special abilities are feared unless they can be strictly controlled and labeled, Meyer celebrates and subverts popular superhero tropes while mining the gray area between malevolence and virtue." (Publishers Weekly)

A gripping story from the beginning. Usually I'm not keen on multiple narrators but these 2 work together excellently.

Highly recommended.

Excellent take on the superhero genre

I liked it, it was a little too heavy on teenage romance but it had plenty of intrigue

unknown gem

Very interesting concept. I like the thought of the 'villains' having more interesting personalities than just destroy.
It does end up going in a predictable path but keeps you invested the entire way.
Worth a listen if you have any interest in superheros or post-chaos worlds.
Overall I enjoyed it and finished in just a few days with the second straight on my order list.
