About this listen

Britain's history is a sweeping saga of blood, death, love, sex and betrayal, peopled by a cast of extraordinary characters. Yet, when it comes down to it, there are only around 150 key things we really need to know that have shaped the story of these islands.

Whether it's the Battle of Hastings or Henry VIII, the English Civil War or the Blitz, Remember, Remember, is a history of Britain in bite-sized chunks, containing all the important dates, people and events - but without the boring bits.

I have this book on my nightime listen as the stories are in small snippets to just drift in and out of. Good voice which makes it interesting.
I wish some of the snippets could be a little longer but it is fine as it is

Enjoyed it

What did you like best about Remember, Remember (the Fifth of November)? What did you like least?

Short and punchy. While this is what it claims to do on the tin as it were, the whole experience left me feeling a little short changed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Remember, Remember (the Fifth of November)?

there isn't one that stands out which is i think the biggest issue, it covers so much but really fails to deliver.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Clive Mantle?

Yes, well read and certainly would have him read me another book.

Did Remember, Remember (the Fifth of November) inspire you to do anything?

find a proper history book and not go for the short versions.

Any additional comments?

Good for kids, but really not the one for you, if you want to be challenged and given a real depth to the history of our county.

I just don't know

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this to someone who wants a whistle-stop tour of the important events in British History from the Roman invasion to World War 2. It offers up the key 'who, when, where, what, and why.' It does not go into a great deal of detail, as it is not that sort of audiobook, but works very well as a succinct guide to history. It is useful for both dipping in to for short periods or for sitting back and enjoying over a more extended period of time.

Any additional comments?

Clive Mantle's clear narration is an added bonus.

Great audiobook
