About this listen

A Gotrek Gurnisson Audiobook

The Slayer returns. Spat out of the Realm of Chaos after an eternity of battle, Gotrek Gurnisson finds himself in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Mortal Realms. With no axe, no oaths, and no Felix, he sets out to find his place in this new universe…

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

This is the novelisation of the Realmslayer audio dramas, spinning yarns of exhilarating adventure that take Gotrek across the realms and introduces him to new companions and enemies.

THE STORY

Gotrek Gurnisson was the greatest monster slayer of the age, who met his doom at the End Times. The heroic Slayer stepped forth into the Realm of Chaos to fight the daemons gnawing at the world's ending and satisfy his death oath, leaving behind his companion Felix Jaeger. Now Gotrek has returned, having outlived the old gods and the Old World. Spat from the ruinous depths with his redemption unfulfilled, he emerges into the Mortal Realms, a strange new world where gods walk the earth and dark forces are ascendant. Nothing is as he remembers. His oaths are dust, and the lands are torn asunder by Chaos. Yet when Gotrek learns of human champions being elevated to immortality for Sigmar’s fight against this darkness, the so-called 'Stormcast Eternals', he knows why fate has brought him into this new age. To find Felix. For only then can he find the peace in death he seeks, but is there more to Gotrek's apotheosis than even he can fathom? Has he truly been chosen by Grimnir, and for what purpose?

Written by David Guymer. Narrated by Jonathan Keeble. Running time 12 hours 34 minutes approx.

I was dubious about following on from the gotrek and Felix books but I’m so glad i did, a triumphant Return from Gotrek into the mortal realms….give it a chance you won’t be disappointed, jk as a narrator knocking it out of the park again ( and no Brian blessed)

An epic return

As much as I enjoyed the previous incarnation this version is superior. As always the narration is spot on.

Narration superb

fantastic storytelling and so much better than the Audi drama that came out first, not that that was bad in itself. a massive adventure spanning multiple aspects of age of sigmar setting. definitely worth a listen

great

A fantastic Narrator 👏🏻 (as always) and the story was better than usual. A surprise guest, that I've missed..and one of the best villains In warhammer ....

Surprisingly good

The Brian Blessed audio drama of Realmslayer was good... but THIS is the definitive version of that story. No one reads Gotrek like Jonathan Keeble.
The story of Gotrek arriving and adjusting to the mortal realms, is both exciting and, at times, tear jerking. Brilliantly written and equally brilliantly read. I'm at a loss for words.

Absolutely brilliant!

Enjoyed the audio drama with Brian blessed but loved finding out how the story was with a proper narration

If you enjoyed the audio drama, you’ll love this

Guess even the end of the world can't keep a good dwarf down! Gotrek is back, but he is alone, a stranger in a strange land. What follows is a tale both epic and nostalgic that manages to be surprisingly emotional. If you are a fan of the grumpy old Slayer, this one is a must.

Back and slayin'

Jonathan Keeble is fantastic as Gotrek and the supporting cast.

It's interesting to see Gotrek in the AOS setting.

Gotrek himself has never been more unlikable though, David Guymer has really sucked the fun out of his character. Similar to Kinslayer and Slayer before, the stories are just sad. No fun or laughs to be had, even in victory.

Gotrek is unhappy and usually quite cruel to his companions.

Outstanding narration. Unlikable Gotrek.

Great to have Gotrek back. But this is weak sauce. Does Warhammer need to copy 40Ks Siege of Terra? It even rips off the Custodes. Yeah, imitation is flattery but so what? The book leaps around with little explanation from the first encounter onwards and with zero surprises. A good Dark Elf? Didn't see that one coming. Nor any of the other heavily telegraphed twists.

Beautifully read but a disappointingly weak story
