I was only interested in learning something about raising backyard chickens and then I saw this two-book purchase that also included goats. My close friend is always bragging about her fresh eggs from her backyard chickens, so I wanted to see how much would be involved in raising chickens myself. But after listening to both books, I have to say the author has piqued my interest in goats too. As a novice that knows nothing about raising farm animals, I thoroughly enjoyed this very comprehensive guide. It answered all my questions and when I’m ready to move forward, I feel equipped thanks to Daniel Hart. Well done. Highly recommend.

I never considered raising chickens at all until I recently visited my best friend's house. She just started with chickens (about 8 or so). She gave us two dozen eggs to take home with us and from that moment on, I was sold! I was so jealous that she had access to farm fresh, organic eggs so easily at her disposal. I listened to this audio book to find out more about what it would take to raise my own chickens. I love that this book also included goats because I'm sure my best friend is headed that way and I'll need to know about that a well! Highly recommend this book to anyone considering raising chickens and goats!

As you may have guessed from the title, I love chickens and goats. I had limited options as a kid in the big city, but my local church had both. So I was able to care for them. Many years later, I wanted my kids to have the same appreciation for these animals, so I sold my house in the city and moved to a more rural area. Now I'm surrounded by chickens and goats! Chickens are feral where I live. I often see them in the car park. Since sustainability is one of my goals, I wanted a resource that had information on both animals. I stumbled upon this audiobook collection, and it is one of the nest titles I have in my 500+ book collection. Everything you could ever want to know about raising chickens and goats is in these two volumes. It's a fabulous deal and a great way to spend your audible credit. I highly recommend this collection.

I loved this book so much, yes it is a great guide on how to raise chickens and goats but more than that it gives you the feeling of being on the farm and being at one with nature. I have become addicted to homesteading, bottling, and all things that take you towards a simpler more self-sufficient life and this book is part of that journey. You don't need a lot of space to keep these animals and so it is suitable for people who have a reasonably sized yard.
The author clearly knows what they are talking about and goes into the emotional as well as the how-to aspects of keeping animals. This book is a great step toward self-sufficiency
