About this listen
In a world where love is often seen as a magical, predestined event or a grand gesture, many find themselves facing unrealistic expectations and shallow connections. Hess challenges these notions by introducing the concept of “quiet love”—a simple, observant, and action-based approach to nurturing relationships. Hess explains how love is not just a feeling or attraction but a series of selfless actions that improve the life of someone you care about. He debunks the myth of “love at first sight” and emphasizes the importance of growth and effort in sustaining a healthy, long-lasting relationship.

Great educational resource
This book is very informative and a great resource for anyone wanting to get advice and understand more about love and relationships. The author outlines fourteen relationship rules, ranging from what to look for in a partner, communication, dealing with life changes when you are in a relationship and even when to end a relationship, and much more. The book explores the challenges we experience in a relationship, includes useful examples, and the content is backed up by scientific studies explaining why we act the way we behave - highly recommended if you would like to understand yourself and your relationship better.

Interesting
This book gave me a lot to think about when it comes to my own relationships and how I approach love. The idea of quiet, grounded love felt refreshing in a world that often over-romanticizes. Overall, it inspired me to focus on deeper connections through small, meaningful acts of care.

A Refreshing Take on Building Real Love
This book was a breath of fresh air! It focuses on practical ways to create a meaningful, lasting relationship rather than relying on romance clichés. I loved the down-to-earth advice and the idea that love grows through intentional actions rather than big gestures. My partner and I have already started using some of these tips, and it’s made a real difference. Perfect for anyone looking for authentic relationship advice!

practical tips about building relationships
Having finished reading this book, I have much to reflect on in regard to my own relationships and the way I approach love. Of the concepts introduced by the author, the one which hit closest to home was about the quiet love, seeming refreshing and so grounded in a world that tends to over-romanticize everything to do with love. Some of the ideas within challenge traditional views of romance, but I found quite compelling what this book encourages: a more reflective, intentional way of making connections. What I have been left with, in general, by this book is an inspiration toward the building of deeper, richer relationships through small acts of cared attention.

Quiet Love: A Guide to Lasting Connection
Matthew Hess’s Quiet Love is a refreshing departure from the usual self-help books. It’s not about grand gestures or quick fixes, but rather the subtle, everyday practices that can transform a relationship. Hess’s approach is both practical and deeply insightful, offering a roadmap to a more fulfilling love life.
What I particularly appreciated was the emphasis on emotional intelligence and effective communication. The 14 rules, while simple, are incredibly powerful. They’ve given me a new perspective on my own relationships and have inspired me to be more intentional in my interactions with my partner.
If you’re tired of the superficiality of modern love and yearn for a deeper, more meaningful connection, I highly recommend giving Quiet Love a read. It’s a gentle, thoughtful guide that can help you build a love that lasts.

If I would know this years ago...
I love this book. It speaks to me. No matter my age, I realised I love to be in love. But that led me only to break ups, many of them; I think they should teach this book in high schools, and everyone should read it in their early adult lives. But since we can't do that, at least we can read this book and pass the knowledge on to our children so they may not commit the same mistakes as we did. I know not everyone is like me, but there is a tremendous amount of wisdom in this book, and it will help anyone get rid of the pink glasses we wear when we meet someone new. I can highly recommend this book! Thank you!

Good advice
Listening to this audiobook felt like a breath of fresh air. The focus on finding depth and stability in relationships instead of constant excitement makes it feel real and genuinely useful. The gentle advice is straightforward and easy to follow, and you don't feel overwhelmed or judged. It's perfect for those who want more meaning in love without all the hype. The narrator's voice is calming and pairs well with the book's thoughtful approach, making the whole experience feel like a cozy conversation. Highly recommend if you're after lasting, grounded love.

Thorough and helpful
There is a lot of food for thought here.
I'm going to apply the counsel to myself and to my marriage relationship and I expect the results will be very positive.
The narration is also very GOOD.
