About this listen

Three years on from the events in The Golem's Eye, the magicians' rule in London is teetering on a knife-edge, with strikes, riots, and general unrest. The Prime Minister is largely controlled by two advisors, one of whom is 17-year-old Nathaniel. Meanwhile, living under a false identity, Kitty has been researching djinn; she has come to believe that the only way to destroy the magicians is for an alliance of some kind between djinn and ordinary people.

Kitty seeks out Bartimaeus and embarks on a terrifying journey into the djinn's chaotic domain, The Other Place, which no human being has ever survived. But even as she does so, Makepeace engineers a dramatic coup d'etat. The outcome is a shattering of the magicians' control as all magical laws are turned upside down. Can Bartimaeus, Nathaniel, and Kitty settle old scores if they survive - and prevent the earth's destruction?

It was really thrilling and amazingly action packed. I loved it but you must really read the previous two books to understand everything. They are both great as well.

Everytime I hear the story the range of voices always amazes me - the dept of tones and range of emotions expressed through this voice actor is fantastic and the story is a personal favourite so makes it even better!

Fantastic voice actor

I need to be careful about spoilers here - book 3 of this trilogy really is book 3 of a trilogy!

Jonathan Stroud has such a command of the English language and such a great sense of humour that it made the whole series just …. fun!! Oh and Lord Pacey - I bow to you oh Great One, I would listen if you voice acted the telephone directory (age given away!) and I would pay for the privilege!

Thank you both for giving me hours of total and utter pleasure.

Ooooohhhhh!

ive read this book as an adolescent a handful of times, but listening to the trilogy back to back over the course of a couple of weeks, as an adult, gives the story of bartimaeus even more depth and meaning. love the way it's written, and the definitive way each character is able to tell their side of the story uniquely. love this book and can't recommend it enough

excellent ending to the trilogy of my childhood

Absolutely fantastic
I loved this book as much as I did the first 2, and keeping everything crossed Jonathan Stroud has more in store for Bartimaeus

A brilliant end to a trilogy full of clever twists and insightful writing. Thete are hidden depths to discover and superb characters that are narrated perfectly by Steven Pacey. I can't recommend these books highly enough.
