About this listen
Ancient creatures, disguised as people, hunt vacationing friends on a remote Swedish island.
©2023 Timothy Bryan (P)2023 Timothy BryanThe reader would not be so bad otherwise, but almost everybody in the book is Swedish and the reader decided to give them a Scandinavian accent without any idea of how Scandinavian people actually pronounce English. The result is a comical accent somewhere between Russian and maybe Indian. Hailing from Finland myself, and having extended experience speaking English with our Swedish neighbours, I can assure you, they don't sound anything like that. The Finnish couple in the book was rendered possibly even worse.
The only positive for the book is that it is pretty action packed and can keep up, if not actual suspense, the feeling of the protagonists being in danger. That can serve an inattentive reader well enough. But I would return this for the store credit if I could. Edit: I returned it for store credit.
Bad literature read with a stupid accent
