About this listen

In the peace and tranquility of the woods at Pinehills on a Saturday afternoon, a mobile phone begins to ring. The phone belongs to DC Smith, and it isn't unusual that the call is from Kings Lake Central police station; what is unusual is the fact that he seems to be the subject of an investigation rather than taking part in one. What can the links be between a prisoner's violent death in another county, the disappearance of two teenagers, and the highest profile case in Kings Lake for many years? As Smith and his team begin to untangle the threads, one thing becomes clear - they are dealing with some of the most dangerous people that they have yet encountered.

Good stuff

Was a rather interesting and insightful book. It appears to be how investigations proceed in police force.

The narration fitted the character of Smith perfectly

Great plot & characterisation, super narration. This is the 3rd in the series to which I have listened and they have all been thoroughly enjoyable

Another excellent book in this series. The main character / detective is amusing, interesting and very likeable. Even better the whole series was free to read.

Best yet in the series

I’m already invested in the characters but this book in the series has a faster pace - particularly towards the latter stages and so was a better listen. I enjoy the sardonic humour which is perfectly narrated. Looking forward to the next book in the series

More excitement than before

The narration continues to be excellent. This 4th novel in the series has more action and tension nicely built. As we get to know Smith and the rest of the coppers in Kings Lake we can get comfortable, but not too comfortable.

Not disappointed

I am not disappointed with the author of this series or the story teller, I wasn't not aware of this author, until I came across
this series, however so far the both of them together make compelling reading, so far.
almost one book a day,

regards Peter
