I didn't enjoy this book as much as I was expecting. Somehow it missed it's mark and I can't really say why. I think maybe there was to much going and meant it just didn't seem to get anywhere with the investigation, a lot of side stories as she went about her daily job. Which although fun had nothing to do with the case. I was also disappointed that until the bomber revealed themselves the police had no clue who was responsible, despite all the background checks, interviews and bomb fragments. The story was mostly told by Megan the new dog handler. With occasional chapters from the bombers perspective, giving an insight into what he or she thought of what was happening. To lighten things up the author treated you to thoughts from the dog, These were quirky but had no real purpose other than to tell you the dog wasn't happy with being left behind and the shoes got it. Which most dog owner can relate to. I liked the start of the book, with Megan getting a new partner and the first bomb going of it got interesting but the rest just felt flat and drawn out. Even the romance didn't take off. I would probably give the next book ago, especially as the covers look good.
When her partner annoys her yet again, she tasers him. Which could explain why Megan finding herself buying a dog bed only to end up having to share her own bed with her new partner. Brigit might be fully trained police dog but it will take her a minute and a few shoes to get Megan into shape. Who is the Alpha in this duo? The pair will have to work it out quickly when they get caught up in a bomb blast at the mall. Writing tickets is not what Megan wants to do for the rest of her life and finding a bomber would go along way to help her make detective and with Brigit by her side, she might just do it.
I like the narrator. I have heard a number of books by different authors which are read by her but she makes it easy to imagine the right characters for the book I am currently listening too and you can always tell who is speaking.

I lived the characters in this story . Megan has a bit of and anger management problem and as a result she now has Bridgit as a partner. This is a great listen the narration is excellent.
