About this listen

Van Shaw was raised to be a thief, but at the age of 18 he abruptly abandoned the illicit life and joined the US Army, leaving behind Seattle and his grandfather who taught him the trade.

But after 10 years of estrangement, Van's grandfather has suddenly asked him to come home. He does so only to find his grandfather shot in the head and bleeding out on the kitchen floor....

Critic reviews

"A zip line ride of a thriller, plummeting through the back alleys of Seattle...Hamilton has crafted a compelling new hero in Van Shaw." (Gregg Hurwitz)

I really enjoyed this one. Who doesn't love a flawed hero.
Good characters, who I wanted to get their just rewards.

Great listening

I love the Jack Reacher books also narrated by Jeff harding and so this book has a very similar feel. It's a great romp of a mystery thriller and I would read another in the series

Jeff harding can do no wrong!

Jeff Harding has such a distinctive style that it's hard to forget he's not reading Jack Reacher. I hung in and just kept listening and it was worth it. Good story that moved along nicely.

Jeff Harding - top narrator

Jeff Harding is Jack Reacher... The improved version. Not the serial killer but one with some morals. I could listen to Jeff read anything and find it essential not to miss a word. Jeff you're the best!

Hey guys! I've found Jack!

Quite tense throughout.
Main character extremely likeable & perhaps we'll hear more of him, I hope so.
Usually eschew anything that goes from present to past tense & back but this was skilfully done & fleshed out the characters.
A great story, would definitely recommend a listen/read.

Super listening enjoyment.

crime at its best

We always love anything Jeff Harding reads, his characterisations and his handling of drama and tension make even an average novel enjoyable. The book kept our interest and had a nice twist at the end, we might think about getting another in this series, if Jeff is reading it, that is.

The Singer Not The Song
