Loved having Promise Falls characters back again. Another stunning plot line which kept me guessing until the very end.

this kept me company during a long drive. good story that kept me interested.
it alludes to the other books in the series, a bit irritating if you've not read them (a long time ago) but not enough to cause gaps in the story telling.
I loved the twist towards the end as I wasn't expecting it but I did work out who it was at the time.
narration was rather confusing as the 'voices' of the different people were often the same or so similar to be indistinguishable
I may go back and revisit the other books in the series 👍🙂

I just love Linwood Barclay's books and this book the last in the Promise Falls series, did not disappoint. I feel that Duckworth's character is so well written and is so well liked, he absolutely deserves his own TV series. A sort of Columbo type! I just love him. Cal Weaver is also really likeable, so I was really invested in what their fate would be.
I'm sad that's it now for these characters. Narration spot on for this one. He nailed Duckworth and brought him to life. Good job!👏👏

Very very good, will keep you on the edge of your seat, a great story line, Jeff Harding has a great voice, and is a pleasure to listen to makes the story come to life.

Again Mr Barclay delivers .....since visiting Promise Falls the characters are becoming well known and although this is not his best work it was enjoyable I love the narrator keeps the story interesting ...

Definately, a strong storyline, very believable characters and fast paced novel

What did you like best about this story?

When Duckworth found out what his son had tattooed on his arm.

What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Wonderful voice, has the right blend of authority, excitement and ability to make so many characters sound like individuals

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending, that really got me, didn't expect it, but thinking about it, it was the only way to finish it.

Any additional comments?

Only the second book I 've listened to, but he has become one of my faviourite authors. Highly recommend this book

Another good outing for Cal Weaver and Detective Duckworth. Have really enjoyed this Promise Falls series. Will definitely buy the next book if there is one.

A slow burner at first. Really takes a while to get going. But once it does... vintage Barclay. Still leaves a few loose ends dangling as well, a possible prelude to another Promise Falls novel perhaps? Good characters and plotting and very good narration (great job, Jeff Harding!). Worth the credit.

Another excellent story from Promise Falls, with the very ordinary detective Barry Duckworth putting it together with stolid determination. Cleverly worked storyline , with Cal Weaver solving the underlying crime, although the two characters don't come together until the end. Another great reading by Jeff Harding.
