loved the book. However, the narrator left me feeling irritated. Please read do not act!

Normally I love to read books physically, I found this to be totally enjoyable in a gender I would normally give a miss. I have to honestly state I found the book totally engaging and in a way addictive. Once started it was difficult to stop.
I will now look to more of this type of book, in addition to my standard reading fare of thrillers and crime fiction, and so on. The book is certainly well written and narrated by Ian that I was hooked after the first minute.
Audible books was a trial for me, to see if I could actually cope just listening to the words being spoken, instead of having my nose in an actual book. Overall I am really happy that I did so, and have downloaded further books via the app to my smartphone, to continue this relaxing method of book reading.
Would I recommend this first book of the Tudor trilogy to others, certainly. It gives the reader the feel of being back in time, and observing the story being told.

Well written but read a little like a shopping list.

I am a major history buff and I especially love the Tudor stories so I was really looking forward to this trilogy. The story itself is good and definitely worth a read if like me you enjoy this type of history. I didn't know much about Owen Tudor before so it was very interesting. What let this audiobook down was the narrator, who I unfortunately have to say was extremely poor. All voices and characters sounded the same, he was extremely robotic and wasn't 'acting' the story as well as I'm used to other narrators doing. I felt like it was just any old person reading the book to me with no real experience of being a narrator. I am definitely going to read the next book in the trilogy Jasper and I am relieved it is narrated by somebody different, hopefully they will be a lot better.

Would you try another book written by Tony Riches or narrated by Ian Fisher?

Probably not ... the bare bones of the plot are historical and interesting, but the characterization wasn't entirely psychologically convincing. The characters were rather flat and therefore did not quite engage my emotions.

What could Tony Riches have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The characters needed to be rounder for my taste.

What about Ian Fisher’s performance did you like?

Pleasant to listen to his voice and there was also variety so that it was possible to distinguish the characters.

Did Owen inspire you to do anything?

Might be nice to do some historical reading to get a sense of which plot points are historical and which are conjecture,

If you are interested in learning about the beginnings of the Tudor dynasty, this novel gives a sense of what might have happened.

Great story but such an appalling pronunciation of the Welsh language.
Surely its possible to consult a Welsh speaker for help with this.
You do well with French and Latin so why this discrimination?

Whilst I enjoyed this story about a rather unknown, but pivotal character in the Tudor story, I several times came close to giving up because of the rather flat, unemotional delivery of the narrator. It struck me that he was rather inexperienced land felt that any emotion could be conveyed by simply raising his voice, without putting any real feeling into it. A shame really.

Story was brilliant, historically accurate where it needed to be and we'll written. It was let down badly by the narrator, or the recording. Scenes rolled into one another in almost the same breath and there was only a cursorory attempt at putting on different voices. Still good, but could have been much better.

struggled to stay with it at first due to narrator's voice which I found annoying drool and slow. I love reading about this period so stuck with it. hoping the next book is a different narrator.
