About this listen

In this new version, Jane Bussmann not so much reads as brilliantly performs her supreme comic history of British youth culture, acid house, and nightclubbing. A book so wonderful, it featured in Jeremy Deller’s winning submission to the Turner Prize. A Muzik Awards Book of the Year.

Not what i expected

A brief light hearted history of the Acid House story. I presumed it was to be a lot more in depth but it was different to what i expected. Not a bad thing. I personally didn’t enjoy the commentary…

It's one person's opinion, a really good insight.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Especially if they were interested in learning about the early days of rave culture in the UK.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?
My tip for listening to this audiobook is to play it at 0.75 speed. Jane Bussmann has a lot to say, unfortunately she speaks so fast, it's impossible to take it all in, unless you adjust the speed down to 0.75, which will really help you.

Any additional comments?
Quite funny at times. I loved hearing the stories of what it was like in the early days. Would recommend.

A trip down memory lane

A very well written book, that evokes very happy memories and some even happier flashbacks. Jane is both an excellent author and narrator and really brings the book to life. A thoroughly enjoyable listen, that I will listen to again and again as the years go by.
