About this listen

On a sunny summer morning, nulls all over the country are attacked at the same time.

In Boulder, Allison "Lex" Luther barely gets her niece to safety. In Los Angeles, Scarlett Bernard is nearly shot in the back. It seems that a powerful enemy is unhappy with the Old World leaders' plans to form a government, and they've coordinated a strike against those rare individuals who can undo magic itself.

Now Lex, Scarlett, and their trusted friends have a plan to put these attackers on trial...but finding them won't be easy, and stopping them means leaving their own territories behind.

The California null and the Boulder boundary witch, along with allies old and new, will have to travel to Galena, Illinois, a small town near the Mississippi River that serves as an annual playground for vampires.
To protect nulls and safeguard the future of the Old World, Scarlett and Lex team up to fight a battle that's been years in the making.

But Galena has secrets of her own....

Old World War is the 12th and final (for now) book in the Old World series.

Great crossover loved this book

I really really enjoyed this book. It’s so good. My only negative is that I want more!

I’ve been hoping for a Scarlett/Lex crossover and it didn’t disappoint, and having the two series narrators read this book together was genius, (and not often done) it made all the difference for me, in bringing it to life. I seriously hate it when someone else starts voicing a character whose sounded a certain way for years/multiple books for me. It can literally ruin a book, so this was awesome and the narrators are both so good and it worked so well I stopped noticing when each of them were voicing the other’s characters it just worked. Loved it

This storyline was fantastic, addressing the Malcom issue was overdue, he’s done so much crap, it couldn’t keep not being addressed so I really liked this storyline, I only wish there was more around the trial and what happened towards the end (feeds into me wanting more), Scarlett’s very quick summary felt a bit unsatisfactory / unfinished / untold for me, but still a good storyline overall.

One of the things I love about the author is how she deals with injury. She never comes up with some easy way out magical fix so the main character can get back into the fight fit as a fiddle, she makes the injuries, and resulting repercussions and impacts, part of the story (and funny too) which I love. Yes the vamps and werewolves obviously heal quick but she doesn’t try to find a way for the rest of the characters to be instantly better too, which I like as it feels more real.

Really hope she does more crossover books and more old world books in general. Thanks for the escapism Melissa J Olsen 😊

Old World War

Another great story of the forbidden world of magic and supernaturals, when Lex and Maven realise that all the Nulls were attacked at the same time, that someone wished to stop the growth of the new council they were trying to bring to gather. Lex with the help of Scarlett and all their friends head out to stop then. Read brilliantly again by both Any McFadden and Kate Rudd.
