One of the great proto-INCEL stories. Dostoevsky was a prophet. He saw through the eyes of psychologically disturbed men so brilliantly and painted them so clearly. This and Crime and Punishment are in tune to the idea.

The reviews saying the main character is disagreeable as a fault of the story are media illiterate. That’s the POINT of the story. The book is not endorsing his psychology, it’s exploring it. Please ignore those foolish reviews

2nd part is the story. Skip ahead if you don’t enjoy the opening, the 2nd half is worth it alone.

Not my cup of tea. The first half is rambling and tedious. Things pick up in the second half however Underground Man, the socially inept, self loathing, thin skinned, bitter, pretentious protagonist is a most disagreeable narrator.
