About this listen
Abandoned baby, missing mother, his heart - which one should Adam guard first?
Adam Hasting’s life takes an unexpected turn when a baby is left at Hastings Security with a note asking him to take care of his daughter. As the oldest brother in the family business, Adam has always set an example. One thing he knows for sure is the child can’t possibly be his.
Faced with an impossible situation, America’s sweetest voice, September Platt makes the only sane decision she can and leaves her baby with the only man she ever loved. Trusting her life to a kind doctor, September desperately seeks to put her life back together and gain the trust of Adam Hastings.
When the paparazzi find September, new dangers threaten her and her baby. Adam and the rest of the Hastings family work to keep them safe. September realizes she must draw on her own courage to save her child and claim a future with the man she has always loved.
©2019 Lorin Grace (P)2019 Lorin GraceI knew this book was clean romance because I’d known about this author for awhile. However, I thought it would be more along the lines the other “hot” (to call it something) romances of this genre.
I was wrong. This book was more about Postpartum Depression and the difficulties of living as a famous person and having a baby outside marriage than just a security guard falling in love with the person he’s guarding (probably because it was a more complicated situation than that).
Besides not shying away from difficult topics, I really enjoyed the family dynamics of the Hastings and the baby (will I ever not became happy when there’s babies in real life or in fiction?).
The only things I didn’t enjoy so much was feeling that a main part of the story had happened before the book started and we never got to see what happened then (was that talked about in previous books? Are there previous books?) even if it was easy enough to understand without all the details.
All in all, a good escapist read for a not-really-feeling-it day.
