About this listen

Don't let the title mislead you - this is not a tale of terror. Instead, with Mr. Flosky perhaps representing a caricature of Coleridge, Scythrop Glowry as Shelley, and Mr. Cypress as Byron, the author gathers characters in an old mansion in order to satirize concepts of romanticism in England in the early 1800s.

Reduce the Playback Speed

Anyone reading on the romantic or gothic movement should enjoy this period paraody work. The narration is however lacking. The playback is quite high pitched and while you may be able to understand what is being said I doubt you will be able to absorb it at the speed it comes. Listening on 90% to 80% makes it much more palatable in my opinion.
If you can get past the seemingly churned out audio (listen to the sample) the dry humour of the piece is still very good, as the caricatured inhabitant of Nightmare Abbey poke fun, with sullen face, at the fashionable joy of being miserable.
