Annemarie darf nicht mit anderen Kindern spielen und verbringt daher die meiste Zeit mit ihren Puppen. Erst als sie zu Verwandten aufs Land geschickt wird, erfährt sie, was Freiheit ist.
Die sechsjährige ist ein temperamentvolles Kind, das aber mit ihrer Lebhaftigkeit und ihrem häufigen Ungehorsam die Nerven der Erwachsenen oft überstrapaziert. Aber zum Glück ist sie ja ganz der Liebling ihres Vaters, des Herrn Doktor Braun.
