About this listen

A child disappears. A foster mother faces an impossible choice. A baby’s future hangs in the balance.

When Deb Moerke and her husband decided to become foster parents, they never imagined how their lives would change. And never did they imagine their worst nightmare coming true: Their five-year-old foster daughter, Hannah, murdered at the hands of her birth mom, Karen.

The Moerkes were overwhelmed with horror and grief. And just when they didn’t think they could bear any more, Deb received a phone call from Karen in prison. Facing a life sentence for Hannah’s murder, she was pregnant. And Karen had an incredible request: Would Deb take her unborn baby in and love it as her own?

How would you respond? Could you show God’s love to someone who had hurt you and taken away everything you held dear?

Murder, Motherhood, and Miraculous Grace is an unbelievable true story of faith, family, and a journey toward seemingly impossible forgiveness. A story that tests the limits of the human heart, it’s ultimately a beautiful, life-affirming testament to how unconditional love and relentless obedience can transform even the darkest of nights into mornings of hope.

Very God/religion heavy... OK if you can hear past that and listen to the actual story...

Very God/religion heavy...

This is a heartbreaking story but one which show how pain can be balanced with joy and love with hate. Well worth the read. It is a healing book full of hope. The narrator is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

a book of hope

Although I enjoyed listening to this book I felt the author was too over powering with her religion.

This was at times a heartbreaking read, and at others a great example of loving even in difficult circumstances. The author has been thoughtful with her words whilst also portraying the reality of the content.

I don't know why I thought I'd enjoy this story it's terrible. The author needs to work on her writing.

boring as hell

what could have been a really interesting and heart wrenching story is spoiled by excessive religious references and a holier than thou attitude. I skipped large portions and ended up giving up

spoiled by religion

I found this sad real life story drowned in self righteousness. The lack of discussion about the poor victims at the hands of their cruel mother was heartless. There appeared a smugness and over indulgence given to the adoptive parent, surely if you adopt someone you don’t put the child in childcare in their formative years. An unsettling read overall.

The overtly religious tone took over the humanity of the story

A really interesting real story, very sad and emotive. However, there is WAY too much talk about God for me. I have read many other similar books where the author has faith in God but manages to present it in a way that isn't off putting to atheists. It felt like it was written for the super religious only. It came across as very preachy. I felt the anti abortion rhetoric was unnecessary and made me really cross. These factors massively detract from what is an interesting subject

Interesting story but too much God

Far to many references about the lord, god,Christianity. We get it. You just don’t need to reference it in every third sentence.
