Little does she expect one of the patio's paving slabs to crack in two, revealing a human skull with a neat hole in the middle of its forehead! Mrs Pargeter decides to investigate. Loved the characters, the narration and plot. Enjoyable and yet from my experience, a quite unpredictable narrative.

Simon Brett has a terrific delivery which brings each of the characters he created to full and comedic life. This is the story of what was under Mrs P's patio and how it got there. Along the way new former employees or, 'business associates' of her much missed dead husband emerge and play their part in helping or hindering the quest. This is just the latest in a series of great performances of very well written material. Long may SB continue!

How I love Simon Brett - witty, entertaining and great plots in all of his series of books and I recommend them all . He is one of the very few authors who given his years of experience in radio drama actually narrates beautifully. I like other listeners would love to be in Mrs P’s gang !

Entertaining & Great Narration

Simon Brett does not disappoint. Some great characters, from Mrs Pargeter to Truffler getting in some unlikely situations. I loved the rather snide comments on TV reality shows. Simon Brett narrates very well, giving all the characters an individual voice.

Love nearly all of Simon Brett's books. can't get into Blotto and Twinks though.
Mrs P is amazing I want to be her so comfortable in her own body and truly loved by all.
Just one complaint about the narration.. Too much sniffing as soon as I hear it I start to focus on the sniffs. earlier books didn't have this I'm sure. I do like Simons voice and characterisations but it does spoil it a bit for me.

Great performance by Simon Brett, although I'm unsure whether his sniffing was to convey distain or it was an affection! Nonetheless, absolutely love Mrs P and will be downloading another adventure with the gang.
