About this listen
Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting . . . for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all . . .
It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her . . . eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love . . . with his own fiancée!

Superb
I loved the intriguing storyline, winding in and out of the different lives.
I felt the author wrote so beautifully the lives of the different characters in this story. Rosalyn Landor really brings these stories to life for me, and makes the characters so interesting, that I want more.

Sympathetic characters but eak story
A disappointing read - while Amelia and Thomas are endearing characters, the storyline is weak and painfully lacking in depth. The narrator is irritating which sucks the life out of the story. Not recommended.

A Bit Repetitive
Although enjoyable as always with Julia Quinn books, I did find it a bit repetitive from the first book in the series.

Why is it so like book 1
Book 2 has lots of the same storyline as book 1.
I finished listening but it was so much like reading the same book twice.

Another great story!
After reading someone’s disappointed review, I wasn’t sure I wanted to purchase it.
But I’m so glad I did!
In the end her review made me even more curious to find out how the story would unfold.
The characters are fabulous and the story is engaging.
Plus Rosalyn Landor’s narration was superb, as always.
I love the different voices she can create.
How on earth does she do this?
After listening to the first book in this series it was really interesting and surprising to hear the story being retold by the other main characters.
It’s the first time I have read or listened to such an idea. I liked it very much.
It’s how life is: people see and experience the same situation in a very different light.
And what a charming little addition to the ending!
Made me smile to hear a few words by a previous well loved character from an other series.
Thank you for a fun story and great performance and I hope there will be some more to come in this series.
What a shame I finished this book so quickly. It was just too binge worthy to put down.

A lovely....
storyline from start to finish with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Here we go again...
They told the same story as the first book. If I had been reading it instead of listening, I would have skipped to the end, read that and the post log and had done with it.

Very Disappointed
I have loved all of the Julia Quinn books I’ve listened to and that is a lot but, I felt cheated with this title because at least three quarters of it was scenes from the first book in the Series….word for word. There was no original story, it was just the first book’s storyline told from a different prospective/person. Very disappointing.
