About this listen

This radio dramatization of the classic movie features the original star, Cary Grant. It aired on July 1, 1949.

The Screen Director's Playhouse featured adaptations of famous movies and called upon the directors to introduce and highlight their work. After each show, the director and stars gathered around the microphones to reminisce about the making of the film.

Cary Grant reprises his classic role in a shortened script version of the film and an insight into the radio of the time with added commercials and a celebrity endorsement by the man of the hour. If you enjoyed the film this is a nice touch. If you havent seen the film, watch that, the script was originally designed for a star from the golden age of cinema and its limited without the classic visual gags and Grant's slick acrobatics and facial expressions. I listened to it while renovating an old house. I loved it.
