a very dark short story, with light supernatural elements. works outside of the Pine universe as well. definitely atmospheric, and creepy.
creepy characters, heavy atmosphere, an almost imperceptible transition between a dark reality and the supernatural. Maberry has nicely written modern horror short stories, often pulling at urban myths.
i quite like this condensed format for horror writing, where the focus is placed less on the horror and suspense, but on the overall message.

dark short story

Very well-narrated and reminiscent of a Stephen King story in its creepiness.

Highly recommended.
